The Norfolk Cider Company who own Norfolk Apple Juice Limited are now the oldest established cider makers in Norfolk, following the closure of William Gaymer and Sons, where one of our staff worked. We continue a tradition in Norfolk that stretches back to at least 1204.
Cider made traditionally in the Eastern region comes from culinary and dessert apples, quite different from the West Country, where cider apples are used. It lacks the astringentcy and so is far more palatable to a wider audience. More like an apple wine, it is a little stronger at 7.5% with more natural sugars in the dessert apples to convert into alcohol, but easier on the head than West Country ciders with their high tannin levels.
Over the last 18 years the Norfolk Cider Company has won several regional awards and is a past CAMRA National Runner Up. Norfolk Apple Juice Limited has won awards in the Apple Juice Category of the Guild of Fine Food Retailers.
